Buff-breasted Sandpiper - Tryngites subruficollis
I picked Matt up from the reservoir and we headed over to Scotney in the hope of catching up with two Buff-breasted Sandpipers which had been present for a few days. An early message on the pager stated that they were at the Kent end so we headed for there first. After nearly two hours we hadn't located the birds and I was getting fed up! Then a guy drove past saying that one was in front of the layby up the road...this meant is Sussex! Absolutely pants record shot attached. Other birds noted 2+ Marsh Harrier, 1 Little Stint, 15+ Ruff, 1 Redshank, 3 Curlew and a single Dunlin.
